About Us

In 1954, in the town of Quibaxe, Dembos district, district of Quanza Norte, was founded by Agostinho Martins Nogueira, married to Espelda Aurora Nogueira and Manuel António Nogueira married to Maria Amélia Martins Nogueira, the company Nogueiras Lda.
The main activity in África dos Nogueiras Lda was coffee production. When they retired to Portugal, they already owned two farms, one with 500ha and the other with 2000ha, where they collected 500 tons of coffee beans, sold in Luanda to stockists who exported them outside the province. They also had a commercial house, located in the village of Quibaxe.
In 1963, the opportunity arose for the acquisition of Quinta da Pitarrela, in Santa Marta de Penaguião. This was the beginning of the winemaking activity, selling its wines to the Port wine exporters, while simultaneously maintaining coffee production until 1975 in who were forced to withdraw from Angola.
Between 1972 and 2007, as members of the Cooperativa Adega de Santa Marta de Penaguião, they became viticulturists, limited by the Cooperative Code.
In 2007, with the departure of Cooperativa, the resumption of the position of vitivinicultores. With different production units in the Demarcated Region of Douro, began with the production of about 4000 bottles / year.
Today, we shape the hills, select the grape varieties, adapt to nature to provide the beauty of the Douro in each bottle we produce:
