About Us
Margarida Vasconcelos & Leites, Lda is the company that produces and markets the wines of Margarida Vasconcelos, heir to Mário Júlio Machado Tavares de Vasconcelos, from Casa das Cortinhas, in Cavez, whose family started in 1540, and with a wine tradition, with a history familiar since 1870. Already at that time, in 1888, the wines from these properties won a third prize, in a competition in Berlin.
Margarida Vasconcelos & Leites, Lda produces exclusively high quality Red Green Wine, in the Basto sub-region, from the Vinhão grape variety, which it sells with the oldest registered brand, Adega dos Leões, the heart of wine exploration, and also more recently with the Madrinha brand, which have deserved recognition and distinction.

The wines originate from the slope of the Tâmega river, in the Basto sub-region, where it is said that the best red green wines are produced.
Adega dos Leões wines are a natural, balanced, pure and tasty product, with a history of traditional exploration, combining the centuries-old culture of wine production with new oenological technologies.
They are produced in compliance with the established requirements, avoiding the use of chemical addition. The must ferment in a refrigerated vat and the wine matures in a stainless vat for 3 to 4 months before being bottled.
Excellent with all dishes, especially meat.
